Cruise Ship Death off Cape Ann, MA

Kreindler & Kreindler is investigating an incident involving a 59-year-old woman who was pulled from the water after falling from a cruise ship about 10 miles off Cape Ann Friday night, September 11, 2015. The U.S. Coast Guard launched a massive search after receiving a call at about 7 p.m. that a woman had fallen overboard the cruise ship Seabourn Quest. The ship immediately slowed and began its own search and rescue operations. Seabourn is a sister company to Holland America.

The ship, based out of the Bahamas, left Boston Friday afternoon for a 10-day cruise to Montreal and was bound for Bar Harbor, Maine. The woman’s body was recovered by Rockport Harbormaster officials, who were searching the waters on a 24-foot Boston Whaler with emergency medical service personnel on board, at approximately 8:30 p.m. off Rockport.

According to news sources, the FBI is now investigating the fatal cruise ship overboard accident. As of Monday, September 14, the woman’s name and the cause of the accident had yet to be disclosed.
