Kreindler Resolves $2.6 M Medical Malpractice Wrongful Death Claim Involving New York City Hospital
Attorney
Kreindler partner Andrew Maloney settled a complex medical malpractice case involving a failure to timely diagnose and treat a laceration of the duodenum.
The patient, a 24-year-old woman with a small child, went in for gastric bypass surgery at a leading New York City hospital. Prior to the bypass, she underwent a gallbladder removal (ERCP) wherein the doctor lacerated her duodenum. For almost eight days, the doctors responsible for the patient did not properly treat or diagnose the leaking laceration which resulted in sepsis and necrotizing fasciitis. After numerous surgeries, and almost 30 days of pain and suffering, the patient died.
The case was filed in New York State Supreme Court, New York County.
