The World Trade Center Health Program will soon add Uterine and Endometrial cancers as covered conditions.
Women who lived or worked below Canal Street including first responders who were at ground zero in the 9 months following 9/11 and have developed or who later develop uterine or endometrial cancer will be eligible to receive full health coverage from the World Trade Center Health Program and compensation from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.

Following intense lobbying from the 9/11 first responders community, the president signed a bill that will ensure the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) will never run out of money. The Permanent Authorization Act extends the VCF’s claim filing deadline from December 18, 2020, to October 1, 2090.

Noah Kushlefsky Meets with Newly Appointed Special Master Sheila Birnbaum
On the day she was appointed by Attorney General Eric Holder to oversee the Zadroga Act’s September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, Special Master Sheila Birnbaum contacted Noah Kushlefsky to discuss the complicated legal and practical issues involved in the administration of the Fund. The two hour closed-door meeting was comprehensive and productive.
Sheila Birnbaum is an excellent choice to oversee the Victim Compensation Fund. She is a New Yorker who is both compassionate and practical, and she understands the monumental effort made by responders and recovery workers at Ground Zero and the significant health issues they face as a result of their service.

Court Appoints Kreindler Partner Noah Kushlefsky Special Counsel in World Trade Center Disaster Site Litigation
Southern District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein has appointed Kreindler Partner Noah Kushlefsky Special Counsel to resolve a conflict of interest in the World Trade Center Disaster Site Litigation.
In an order, Judge Hellerstein concluded that the attorneys representing a group of 59 plaintiffs who had previously made claims to the Victim Compensation Fund had a conflict because they removed the group from the eligible plaintiffs’ list for the 2010 settlement, a deal that calls for upwards of $700 million in payouts to those who responded after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, and cleaned up the site.
